So far so good with mine. Outlook is syncing fine. I read in another thread somewhere that Exchange might be an issue. Is your Outlook tied into an Exchange server?
The only real issue I have is a bit of slowdon when I turn on the machine. I have to enter my password three or four times to get it to go in properly.
One thing that I found in order to pinpoint the problem was to uncheck all sync options (in active sync window - tools, options). And then one by one add the calendar then sync. Add the contacts then sync, etc. There could be a conflict with one of the options. Mine was with favorites. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to sync, especially when in a hurry.
kenvan54, you have struck gold! Finally it almost works! Thank you so much! I have calender, contacts, notes and folders! The problem was with my tasks...
Unfortunately I depend on my task list! Any idea how I can get it to sync?

What about backing up and then deleting all tasks in outlook... then see if it will sync properly with an empty task list. Then add the tasks back one at a time to see if the error recurs? If outlook is having an issue reading the tasks perhaps refreshing them in this manner might rebuild that portion..
Just a theory. But now that you know it's tasks try searching aximsite and google for related cases... also theres a microsoft newsgroup microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync that might be worth a look
I would, it's a great machine. And my problem appears to have solved itself, although I am not convinced that there is not a hardware defect that caused it.

I would recommend it.. so far works great here no issues. I did get a white screen here and there but a soft reset and we're good to go.
OK now I have another problem: my X51 doesn't start: it happens every day 2 or 3 times, and I have to do a soft reset to get it to work. The lock's not on.

Yeah, make sure you are using the switcher bar to exit all programs before you "power off" because I know I had some games on there that would cause a similar issue.. Basically the programs stay running in the background... you can see them by checking the Memory icon in Start->Settings->System->Memory->Running Programs. First time I saw how many programs I had running in the background I was amazed.
I took Kenvan54's suggestion, and simply unchecking everything and bringing them back one by one got rid of the problem without having to do anything else. I suspect the problem with my system was due to email, because I had done something on the device I had never done before (clicked a sender name that wasn't in my contacts and was prompted to add a contact for them), and the problem started on my next sync immediately afterward.
Fortunately, unchecking all of the sync options and adding them back one at a time got everything syncing up again without any problems or errors, so one of them did the trick.
Thanks for the suggestion! I was just starting to get really frustrated with this error when I came across this thread.
I do have to say, ActiveSync is bar none the worst piece of software I have ever dealt with when it comes to debugging problems. No error I have seen thus far gives nearly enough information to fix it, and most give you next to nothing at all. There are no details, you can't get to the logs from within the program, and when you do open the log files there is almost never anything useful in them anyway.
Granted, ActiveSync has been pretty stable and reliable for me, which I am very thankful for given some of the posts I've read about problems with it, but the software feels very much like an afterthought. I get the impression MS put next to no effort into design, usability, or features and just opted to design a very basic program to fulfill the function. Somewhat disappointing, but at least I've had decent luck with it so far.
