I has a few serious issues (Bluetooth profiles, VGA out...) but I would never go back to WM2003SE again cause even with the bugs and issues WM5 offers lot of improvments!

Not only does it offer improvements but it is also good to remember that WM2003SE had a bumpu road when it was released. When Dell and M$ iron the WM5 we will have a very useful and improved OS.
I guess we will have to wait for a while for this to happen; but who´s in a rush anyway?

Programmatically, there's a lot of OS improvements that will help developers create more useful applications, however, the poor system performance is a giant step backwards for the end user. Even when implementing the suggested registry file hacks to increase cache size, the overall operation of WM5 is still sluggish at times. Just my two cents....

I liked the new stuff in WM5, such as powerpoint and GPS stuff. I just wish I could customize the soft buttons on the bottom of the screen, but thats not a big deal for me.
HOWEVER, activesync 4.0 was very buggy. My device was unrecognized. and I couldnt sync in bluetooth and with the cable when I wanted to.

Yeah, I like it. I haven't had any problems with it yet and I'm going on about a little over a week now.

I just updated a few days ago and I would have to say that I am staying with WM5. I was getting tired of the out of memmory issues with 2003se. Since I have updated I have to say I am quite happy. My issues are: I am a mac user and no sync alternatives are available right now. I wanted to sync through VPC 7 but Microsoft can not even deliver an activesync program that works with their own software - I have always hated activesync - what a piece of crap. I have several programs that are not supported that I need also, card plus II being the most needed. But I have a crappy Pentium PC at work that I am able to sync and load programs through and I still prefer WM5.

While there were a few hiccups at first I have to say I absolutely will not be going back. All you have to do is make the registry hacks to get it to work just as wel as WM2003. Considering you get the advantages of persistent memory and don't have to constantly adjust the memory slider.
Do the upgrade, just be sure to also do the reg hacks.

I think the registry hacks and acticesync resceduling and error reporting changes would have taken you less time that it did to roll back to WM2003.
Oh well, I understand there are a lot of people that don't want to "hack" anything. I feel it is a cost I am willing to pay to have the latest and have the advantages of WM5. I would have preferred that I didn't have to make these changes, but it isn't that huge a deal for me.

I've been on it for 3 weeks now. Had most of the same bumpy starts as everyone else seems to have had. Have taken advantage of most of the tweaks and suggestions made. Yet I still have to soft reset at least once a day and have had to do 3 or 4 hard resets. WM5 ate (deleted all the data) from my SD and CF cards once. Now I back up after almost every change and then copy the flash cards to my desktop hard drive.
I have stuck it out so far, but find more and more software that does not work under WM5, and do not see that many improvements in either functionality or speed. Battery life may be slightly better, but since I have a spare battery and recharge every day, that's not a major thing. Battery life while using wireless is still terrible. Seeing the fix for X51V, I do not expect to see a lot more in the constantly rumored fix for X50V. It does not address most of the issues reported here. I will probably stick with WM5 until I see the update and hear reports from others. If it doesn't seem to improve things much, I'll probably downgrade back to 2003SE until things imporve. After all, it was working quite well and doing everything I wanted to do with it. Steve C
