Anybody know how to delete categories?
I have categories (that you can assign tasks, contacts and calendar events to) that are in my pocket pc and are not in my category list in Outlook 2003 which I use on my laptop. I can't find a way in the pocket PC to delete them. Any ideas? I have a Dell Axim x50v and am running Windows Mobile 5.0. Thanks, Jim

Hi JimG
Categories are related to the outlook appointments for example in pocket breeze the only categories that come up are the ones I have actually assigned some appointment to, before I can delete them I have to reassign any appointments to different categories.
Can you give us an idea of the unwanted category text maybe that will help solve why they are there?

There is no way to remove the Master Categories that ships with WM5 using built-in applications (unlike WM 2003SE and previous versions - think it's a WM5 bug).
You'll have to rely on 3rd part softwares like Pocket Informant to do it.
I'm trying to write a small app to add/delete master categories using Visual Studio 2005, but the documentation is still kind of "green"...

I have a category called "DDC" that I added in the past. I have removed everthing from that category on both the Pocket PC and the laptop (Outlook). I also deleted it from the category list on the laptop in Outlook. But, it remains on the Pocket PC and as I said I can find no place to delete that category. Thanks, Jim

I cruised to this thread after having the same problem. I wanted to delete a category I had added some time ago. After reading a few posts, I made sure all contacts and appointments had been edited so they didn't fall under the unwanted category. When I restarted my PIM, the category was magically gone. It looks to me like once there are no references to a category, it goes away.
I'm using Agenda Fusion (v 7.80) but I know I didn't use any special tools within it to delete the category.

When I go into calendar, say and open and appointment and open it for editing and go to the categories field, I see a list of categories that includes many things that I know are not associated to anything on my Pocket PC. They may be associated to old appointments on my PC (say over 2 years old). I have double checked many times and I cannot find these categories used anywhere on my Pocket PC.

If you're syncing with Outlook, how about deleting the unwanted categories there. I think it should then sync with WM5 and delete the unwanted ones there too. In Outlook (2003) go to Edit > Categories > Master Category List.

I have a "Seasonal" category in my Axim X51 (WM5) since day 1. The "Master Category List" in Outlook 2003 didnt have the "Seasonal" category, thus unable to delete it. Anymore tips to remove it from the Pocket PC?
