WM5 compatible Backup Software !

Sunnysoft Release WM5 compatible Backup Software

The just released thier WM5 version 3.7 backup software

Yipee ! I downloaded and installed the 14 day trial.

Im running it now and doing a few tests on my X51v
My Axim.....
X51V,
Pocket Informant
Tweaks 2k2.net
Pocket plus
Avantgo
Marsware Weatherpanel
Pocket E-Sword
and a ton of other apps including listpro and tomereader

Update: the full back of my x51v with the dell software was 125mb , and sunnysofts compressed back is 56mb. a good compression I think. Now for the hard reset and restore.

The Hard Reset was scary.... Also my axim has tweaks2k2 and other modifications which will make for an interesting test.

Ran the backup file, which is an executable, and it popped up the security warning which you have to say yes too, and then it poped up a warning about installing another component, which I said yes too.
The the sunnysoft window popped up and It asked if I wanted to restore all data - I said yes.
The the app started restoring all data.

During Restore it shows each files restore status, and there's no status bar showing how far along you are in the overall restore. thats a small negative mark in my book.

Restore took 22 minutes. over twice as long as the built in app must be the compression thing.

pocket informant came up after soft reset following restore. and x51 wont connect with activesync... Grrrrr.

Will hard reset and restore the backup I made with the built in app.
Sunnysoft gets thumbs down from me.

I had to reset up the partnership but at least the dell backup / restore worked and im back up without errors.

That's interesting as I have seen several posts about the restore working fine, except a note about the PIM databases and email being left off.

Yeah, I could try again but I dont have time today. I did also do the restore on battery power alone and it sucked half my battery dry.
Think I'll wait to try the sprite backup as I have used thier software before without issues.

If sunnysoft backup manager is installed, do you need to keep activesync?

I think this is where you went wrong :) I just tested it like you did ..but I was careful .. you missed a couple of important steps :p

after you hard reset the unit ..BEFORE you restore ..you need to do the following 2 steps :

1/ go into settings & turn off error reporting ...

2/ apply the MUI tweak ( to bypass the UNSIGNED certificate )

(hopefully you had the above steps done too before you'd install any softwares ;) )

***
NOW ... only after you have done the above ... go ahead & RESTORE ;)

INFACT ... I was even successful with their previous version ( v3.5 ) eventhough it never claimed to support WM5.

cheers ! ;)
