Good NEWS ... we can now backup reliably in WM5 :)

as far as I know .. WM5 so far doesn't have any reliable backup software ( Sprite comes close, but did not do a good job)

well, good news " Sunnysoft Backup Manager" just came out with a WM5 supported version ;) previous version of SUNNY soft did a fairly good job - best out others backup and was the only one that really run in WM5 ( version 3.5 ) ...

This version 3.7 is officially WM5 supported now ;)

check them out at:

Were you referring to any Sprite version or just their current lack of support of WM5? I am still using WM2003SE and I have Sprite Backup and think that it is awesome. It has never let me down, and is considered the standard by which all other backup utilities are judged. I'll give this new one a try just for grins, but they're gonna have to get up pretty early in the morning to beat Sprite...I have my doubts that they have...

So I went to the site and downloaded the trial version. First, they have two trials. 14 day and 30 day. Id didn't see the 30 day until I had already loaded the 14 day. Strange way to do a trial. Anyway, how do you buy it? I can't seem to find a purchasing page or a price. Maybe I'm just having a bad reading morning...

There's a big green "BUY" button at the top of the page on the right, just below the main menu under "LINKS", and opposite the main title, "Sunnysoft Backup Manager".

Wow. I don't have that button at all. Interesting. I went back and looked and there is no green button, or anything for that matter, underneath the Links tab until I get to the picture of the software box. I'd buy their program if I could find the link. THis is a mystery to me.

This is actually turning into a huge frustration. I miss my Sprite. When I had a replacement machine to load, I made a self-executing back-up and would be up and running within 20 minutes on the new PDA like it was my old. Now I try the Dell utility and it gives me nothing but errors when I try to create or restore from it. I try this new Sunnysoft program and it just isn't going smooth at all. It runs the program, but than nothing happens. I can't tell if it's running in the backhround or not.

Meanwhile, I've been trying to create a restorable back-up now for almost 4 hours. I couldn've just about reloaded manually in this amount of time.

Nevermind, it appears that the one and only program I have to run prior to recovering from Sunnysoft's is the SetSecurity that comes from the Tweak2k2 people. I reset and ran this to turn the security prompt off. No more problems. That security prompt is the biggest headache Microsoft's new operating system. Serves no "real" puprose but to make the software I've paid good money for not work.
