When can we expect V2 of WM5?

I've installed WM5 and backed out again to 2003SE to retain my sanity!

Nevertheless I'm looking forward to getting back to WM5 when the problems are fixed. Anyone here have an idea when Microsoft and Dell will be releasing an update

Looking forward to your responses.

Actually there's no guarentee that Dell will even provide a patch for upgraded users. I gotta believe they will because WM5 has so many problems. I've reinstalled it myself and got it to be manageable. So the faster the update comes the happier I'll be.

The issue is not the OS WM5, because this works great on an Ipaq...is the OS designed for DELL for the AXIMS....

According to Brighthand MS will be releasing an update to WM5 in the first half of 2006, codenamed "Crossbow." It will probably be Windows Mobile 5 Second Edition, or WM5.5. I hope we don't have to wait that long for all the problems to be fixed. Plus, I bet only the X51 line will be offered upgrades and it will cost another $40.

This is all my speculation, but follows the previous pattern of MS and Dell.

I haven't had any problems with WM5 yet> Wifi good, Bluetooth good, Haven't Experienced the "Lost Card" problem. No problems

:edited: I now recant this post. WM5 update is slow, bluetooth is severely hampered.

:edit#2: due to system inusability I have now rolled back to WM2003SE. Sigh of Relief!!

If I have to pay for an update to somwthing that was supposed to be better, I am gonna be really upset with Dell and DEMAND a free update.

400 some odd dollars for a peice of crap and they expect me to pay to fix it? BS is all I got to say BS

Yeah, I don't expect a lot of new features, but I would be really disappointed if enhanced BT support did not come as part of a free upgrade.

rgb08, do you know how the WM5 Second Edition you mentioned compares to the WM5 AKU2 that has previously been mentioned? Are they the same thing? Or is AKU2 a more minor update that is closer to release?

Between Dell and MS, the lack of BT profile compatibility really needs to be addressed.... Not having things like OBEX push is just not excusable. It was inexcusable when a cell phone company crippled such a feature to try to increase revenues, but in Dell's case there isn't even any rationale like that....
