I'm new to WM5 and frustrated...

It seems that WM5 works hard to lock the user out of doing anything useful at the system level. For example, I need certificates for access to web and email and the PocketIE will simply allow me to download the file, but then what? I have searched around for a means of installing the certificate, and I note from the registry that the command is "certinst %1" but how do you invoke such a command?

Also, I need to check, and pehaps modify, the ports used for incoming/outgoing email but I cannot find a way to do it.

Are there any tools for "power users" in WM5?
I would also appreciate any pointers to tutorials on working in WM5
Thanks,
Derek

There are other mail programs you can get that allow you to change ports and such. WebIS makes one version. There is a 50% off coupon for it somewhere on this forum that might still be good. I used it a few weeks ago for their Pocket Informant.

Solved the certificate problem by installin Resco utilities, associated the certificate files *.cer with the program certinst.exe (in the Windows directory) and clicked on the .cer.
That's all that was needed...

I'm nervous about webIS and WM 5. Should I be?

I'm using WebIS on and X51v without any problem but I believe you can use different ports with the Pocket Outlook version included by adding a colon and the port number to the end of the server names. WebIS mail does have some nice features, though.

[BTW, gleon69 and kulnet, I didn't appreciate your responses to what was a serious question. We don't care much for that attitude around here.]

Tweaks2k2 allows to change the WM5 registry type from "hive" to "file" so that registry changes survive resets.
