Disappointing Microsoft Webcast: Debunking WM5 Myths

I just got off the Microsoft Webcast "Debunking the Top 10 Myths About Windows Mobile." It was quite disappointing. It addresses none of the issues repeated many times daily in these forums. It placed most of the blame for software incompatibility (for programs that ran fine on previous versions of MS PPC operating systems) onto the shoulders of the software developers, rather than admitting that OS changes were what created most of these incompatabilities.

They asked us to hold question until the end, but then decided that there was not enough time to take any additional questions other than those that might have been entered during the presentation (which we were not able to view). The speaker decided, in the interest of time, that he would handle those questions offline and personally get back to the individual responders who had added their e-mail addresses to their queries.

I have listd below the "comment" portions of the survey taken at the end of the session. It summarizes my concerns with both WM 5 and the webcast reasonably well.
  • [ The webcast] Did not address the many REAL problems that current Windows Mobile 5 users are experiencing on an every day basis. These result in multiple soft resets (almost daily) and too many hard resets. (Please note, I am using Dell AXIM X50V).
  • All users should have been able to see the questions and hear the answers instead of the presenter deciding to handle them offline. One person's questions may have helped others with similar issues.
  • [I am a] Retired individual using Dell AXIM X50V for both entertainment and day-to-day productivity. Note that the Dell AXIM community is made up of a significant number of users who are either still working or have business contacts from previous work experience and, by their personal experiences and comments, may still be in a position to influence (positively or negatively) those in a position to make corporate decisions.

In the previous note, when I said I listed the "comment" portion, I meant that I listed my personal comments to the survey they presented at the end of the webcast. I hope nobody construed this to mean general comments that were presented at the end of the webcast by others.
