WM5 ROM for X50v

For what its worth, just chatted with Dell support...and they stated that the X51v ROM update is already out and that the X50v ROM update should be out by the first of the year. My upgrade from ppc 2003 to WM 5 went fine except for battery drain, Active Sync firing up by itself and slow processor speed.......sure hope the ROM upgrade fixes the problems but with Dell who knows....great website by the way

That's the point! I'm sick of WM5.0 simply since its rubbish BT function, leaving my MOTO HT820 useless

Hey Guys...

I just provided this info on another thread and thought you might find it interesting. As for the ROM update, I don't think there is any added Bluetooth functionality:

Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like I'm going to have to wait until the new version of Windows Mobile to come out in 2006

Found an article that looks promising referring directly to the HT820 headset.

Until next time...

I just purchased an X50v refurb and I love it so far. I did not get the upgrade CD to WM5. With a new ROM image coming out, does that mean that I dont need to buy the WM5 upgrade CD if I want to try out WM5 if dell releases a ROM for the X50v? I've heard a lot of horror stories about it so far but I wouldnt mind testing it to see if it's any better at all.

I would imagine the ROM update will only work if you already have the A01 WM5 Installed.

There may not be in the next upgrade, but the package that Microsoft will release shortly (Assuming the court case against Microsoft doesn't halt the release) to support push e-mail includes additional profiles. Given the corporate demand for push e-mail I'd expect Dell to release this as soon as they can. Hopefully an improved stack is on it's way one way or the other.

Jason Langridge is reporting (http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archi...19/505653.aspx) that the first AKU2 device is shipping, so MAYBE the next ROM from Dell will have AKU2 and with it some new profiles
