Since upgrading to WM5 on a Axim 50x, Real Player for Pocket PC - both the old and the new beta version - will not install, because it doesn't recognise Active Sync 4.1. It says: Need to install Active Sync 3.8 or later. Mind you, I didn't have these problems when running WM2003. I haven't reinstalled ActiveSync since have upgraded to WM5. Anyone else had these problems?
PS Didn't have many others problems with the WM5 upgrade. It is a little slow.
Maybe the intaller was made before Activesync 4.1, and therefore doesn't recognize it. On my pc it says I need activesync 3.1 or later, and I have 3.8! I got the realplayer.cab file. It's posted here Download this and put the file on your pocket pc. Run it from file explorer and it should install. If the program has problems, its not made for wm2005. By the way its version 1.1 :)

Has anyone tried this with WM5? I also could not get it to install with the installer from RealPlayer because of the Active Sync error message. Does it work if installing directly from the CAB file?

Hi
Have installed via the cab file successfully
The only problem I have seen if I switch to full
screen there is curruption(coloured bands)on the bottom
of the screen
I was able to install the CAB file and things seem okay, but when I try to open an mp3 I get an error message saying "This clip is not playable." The same file works fine in Windows Media Player.
More concerning to me is when I try to open a streaming audio file, since streaming audio is the reason I wanted to use Real Player(the file I'm using is the WLS radio station in Chicago at http://www.wlsam.com/listenlive.asp). I'm not entirely sure I'm doing it right. If I enter the web address from Real Player, it says the address is not supported. If I download the .ram file, I get "This clip is not playable" when I try to open it. Any suggestions?
One more slightly off-topic question - if I install something from a .cab file, can I delete the file once the installation is complete?

Hi,
I am having the same problem with downloding Real Player, and i tried the link you have posted but it says it's Terminated. If you could perhaps give me another link or another way of downloading it it would be greatly appreciated. (From anyone, not just Spunker88)

ok guys, this is the way! don't do anything, just follow my steps, sure you'll all be happy again.
get the pda linked to the pc first, click on the realplayer installation file, you will be prompted with an error that your active sync is not installed, ha ha ha, yes, i know it is painful, but the secret is, while in the installation process, a temp folder consists of the realplayer cab file is created in the pc. don't click ok on the error message window first, go to run, type in %temp%, a new window will be pop up full with temperory files and folders, look for a folder named ~rnsetup, bingo! copy the realplayer.cab in that folder! do not ask me further, it is your own problem beyond this point!
  do not thank me too because someone kind enough to share this in other forum and i was just lucky enough to find it right! happy sharing.
OK I finally got Realplayer working on my X51v last night. I wanted to listen to BBC radio but kept getting Server Timed Out messages when I tried to open a stream. I think I found the same page precsmo found and that installs it just fine.
Here's some hints for anyone in the future:
You can't seem to stream while the PDA is connected to a PC.
Try various settings in the Network bit. 802.11b gives you the highest stream available. If you get a 'Clip Error' there is not a stream lower than your setting available.
At the BBC use the "Play with standalone player link". Save the .ram file then open it from Realplayer (or File Explorer etc.)
You can watch video too if you search the source code for the relevant links.
