Are there any WM5 AIM clients besides Agile and AIM+? AOL's pocketpc version is not compatable with WM5 (the compatibility list in the WM5 forum says it is, but this is incorrect). I've considered shelling out the $30 for AIM+, but I really do not think the application is worth paying for (perhaps if it were 5-10$ I might consider it, but even then...). If only my x51v could sign on to AIM :/
It says its for CE but it works with WM5. I have wm5 and installed it and was using no more than 5 minutes ago, tested everything out, no bugs so far (except i dont know how to close old aim windows without logging in or out, but once you see how its setup, thats not a big problem.
Enjoy!
Yeah, I can't find the file either :/ Anyone have any luck running AIM on WM 2005?
That CAB doesn't show up unless you sign in on their vBulletin page.
That version works great except for two problems:
Doesn't "auto-pop" writing area
Writing area covers up the box you're writing in!
I guess you either have to choose between not being able to get to menus or having the IM box covered up by the writing area if you wanna use AOL's crappy AIM 2.0 for CE...

Mine doesn't cover it, I can see most of the IM window, but thats when I have it on vertical display settings, maybe on landscape it would cover it, idk.

Addition who needs that kind of stuff any way huh?

Hmm... I'm in portrait mode, Windows Mobile 5.0 using the CAB on that bulletin page. Everything works great until I try to send somebody an IM message; not only does that version not auto-pop the writing area for me, but it also covers up the area I'm writing in. (I can see the rest of the message window) You don't have that problem?
Mine doesn't auto pop up the keyboard, and it does cover the area I'm supposed to be able to read what I'm typing. O well, I'll get over that.

Try Agile Messenger, that's what I'm using on my WM5 device (rx1955) and I love it. It's a lot like trillian...tabbed windows, and you can be on AIM, YIM, MSNM, ICQ and a few others all in one window. www.agilemobile.com is the site I believe... It's free, but the site says its a trial or something, but I can't find any evidence of that anywhere. No where during install does it mention trial, evaluation, or anything of the sort. Neither does the program anywhere. And it doesn't mention anything about upgrading....I have not had the program for 15 days so I'm not sure, but I think that since it's a beta, it may be free...
The only downside to the program is if you get a message while in PIE, it asks you to activate or ignore or something, and if you hit activate, it sometimes closes PIE so that you loose the webpage you were just on....an annoyance, but a small price to pay for such an awesome program IMO.

Yep, it stays free. :D

I fixed that by changine AgileMessenger's New Message alert in Windows Settings - I disabled that message box and turned on the flashing alert light. The alert light (usually) stops flashing when you select part of the conversation that generated the alert.
I tried agilemessenger and i think it kinda sucks. No copy/paste, you gotta highlight past IMs to read the whole thing, no profile or information....
What does everyone else use to connect to AIM through WM5?
You're right about everything except for paste, which you can do by switching to Keyboard and doing CTRL+V. I don't believe copy works for message history, though. (CTRL+V/CTRL+C/CTRL+X has worked for every program I've tried that didn't have built-in copy/paste controls except for Minimo, which promptly crashed. :D)
I've been using a combination of AgileMessenger and AIM 2.0 since 2003SE, as I haven't been able to find a better alternative. I use AgileMessenger to send/recieve message and AIM 2.0 (on a different ScreenName) to read away messages/profiles.
