no option to install to SD or CF on WM5??

how come i dont' get an option to choose the destination for programs i want to install? for some reason, it defaults straight to the windows directory...

the guides online says that it should prompt whether i want to store it on an external card, but i dont' see this...is there any way i can change this?

Some programs allow this some dont. For example, I tried Toy Golf on the memcard and it would not let me install it there.

Try using the .cab files instead of the .exe files. Download the .cab files to a storage card or your devices My Documents folder then tap on them. I got the prompt when I did that with my Jasjar.

thanks for the prompt replies. yes, when i download the cab file to the device, then run it from there, i can select the destination.

however, this kind of stinks for apps where i dont' have the cab file :( i wonder why wm5 doesn't prompt you every time

Have you tried Activesync 4.1? You can get it at www.pocketpc.com , Look under Windows Mobile downloads.

Update: You can't get there from my link if you're mobile browsing.

Every program I have installed so far with WM5 transfers the CAB file directly to the device and then the device prompts me to choose what location to install it on (unless I don't have a memory card installed). If there is not enough room to transfer the CAB file to the device itself, ActiveSync will then prompt me to choose the location to install from the PC (all though it usually fails to install properly this way).
