WM5 email question

I use an IMAP4 email account and I have been able to download my email to the X51V when connected through the sync cable and with WiFI. Today for some reason when I try to download my email with the sync cable from my desktop I get an error message to check connections. I can still get to the internet and to internal web pages through the cable just can't get email. The email server is working because I checked the sync cable connection using a iPAQ and that got email with no error. I can still use WiFi to download with no problem. I have made no changes since yesterday when it worked with my sync cable up until today. An no just using WiFi is not an answer.
Does anyone have any idea what could have changed? I have my networks both set to Work and email is set to connect to work.
