Spreadsheet - is there something better than Pocket Excel?

Hello all,

I searched around some but didn't find much info I could use. I have found Pocket Excel doesn't quite do what I need (it loses a lot of stuff syncing with MS Excel - formatting, etc - and I'm a 'simple' Excel user!). I jumped ship on Palm and got my PPC about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

What would you guys/gals suggest for a replacement spreadsheet program that would be Excel compatible? On Palm, I used MobiSystems OfficeSuite, which isn't available for PocketPC. It did a great job for all my needs. I have an X51v, so whatever I get has to work with WM5.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tim

Have i got exactly what you want. Try the trial of Planmaker. http://www.softmaker.com/english/pmp_en.htm It costs aound $50, but for a little more, $70 you can get a version of word like this and the windows pc versions.

Thanks, I'll check into those. I saw Planmaker elsewhere, and was hoping to find something a little less expensive... But if it does the trick, the price might not be too bad.

Keep an eye on ebay... every so often softmaker sell it at a discount price as a promotion :)

SpreadCE is almost as good as Planmaker and costs only $20 as opposed to $50.

You could wait til next November 11. They have a great sale on all their products in celebration of Karnival. It was going for 22.22 this year, including the PC version. Really impressive software.

It is pretty impressive - though the UI makes me wonder what they were thinking in some places. Particularly how it closes rather than going into the background when the "ok" in the corner is clicked. That, and the persistent lo-res "x" with a circle around it.

Aside from those minor things, I'm quite surprised how much power these folks packed into a handheld program. Of course, moving from Palm to PPC, there's a bit of "wow" at what a PDA with better hardware and a proper OS can do.. But that's another topic altogether.

I think I'll keep an eye on Ebay. The only thing that makes me hesitate with this software is the price tag. It's a great program, no doubt - but $50 is quite a bit. I mean, you can get cool hardware for that kind of money! ;) I sure wish that deal was still going for $22.22. I don't care about the PC side - I have real Excel - but I'd love to have the PPC part!
