WM5 SE coming 1st-half of 2006. Next WM version coming next year!

I saw a brief article over at Brighthand

Hopefully many problems of WM5 will be resolved. Most importantly, let's hope Dell will support it on the X50v.

Sorry if it's old news, but it's new to me.

That is refreshing to know that they have thought ahead that long already. Hopefully by first half they mean January :).

Does that mean X50 users will be able to upgrade? Or will it be X51/X51v only?

This was posted before. This is not a rom update. Its a new os. (kinda like when 2003 came out then 2003se came out) I doubt we will get this upgrade.

The big question what portion of the current problems are attributed to WM5 and what portion are attributed to Dell and the device customization.

Ya we would probably have to pay for it considering it would be a new OS and not simply an update. Maybe since we got the shaft with the first version of WM5 they will throw us a bone (doubtful, but I can still wish :)).

Man, that would be $40 shot on the WM5 upgrade. I wish they would have worked out the bugs before they released it. I guess if they did it wouldn't be a Microsoft product.

so whats the deal with these upgrades. Does Dell not offer free upgrades to new OS's anymore?

I'm curious because back when I had my Axim X5 I got a free upgrade CD to windows Mobile 2003.

They need to fix WM5...I already paid 40 bucks for something that doesn't work, a ROM update needs to happen soon....if they screw us with another OS so soon I just won't bother...the last update turned my x50v into a brick and ended up being sent two more models. We need a ROM update to smooth things out otherwise I'm sticking with WM2003SE for quite a long time.

If you bought an X5 within 30 (I think) days of the release of WM2003 you got the free upgrade.

There was a similar deal for the X50.
