Axim x51v + USB external drive combo?????

I had heard about setting up an external drive to be used by a pocket pc, but have been unable to find any way to perform this. I was trying the USBMCA drivers, but they seem to be out of date for the newer OS's, and I am wondering if anyone has gotten their PDA to succesfully see an external HD?

It is a long shot I know, but was wondering if anyone else has figured this one out.

It doesn't have USB Host capabilities so you'd need a USB CF card. Ratoc springs to mind but I'm not sure that it works with WM5.

Damn, that is what I thought you would say. I have been poking around platform builder, and I know the capability is built right into each OS, without any other drivers, but am not experienced enough to actually do anything more then read some MSDN stuff.

The capability is in the OS - and - it's in the processor. But it seems that Dell (or HTC) chose not to enable it.

You see... that is what I do not get? Now why would you possibly turn off something like that? I mean, what is it? A few registry keys... that is it. I mean the registry keys mentioned in USBMCA are all there, even in WM5, but for some reason I could not get it to see the drive.

Oh well... I will have to keep dreaming of an 80 gig HD for my axe.
