I gave up... back on 2003se

I gave WM5 a good go - followed a lot of guides

But the cpu speed bug was a nightmare - it wouldnt ever drop down from max and even when I set it to permanently be on maximum everything was really slow and jittery

I installed a game (worms) at christmas and it was barely playable

Along with bluetooth being really bad - I finally gave up and went back to 2003se

Must admit its like having a new PDA its twice as quick and never crashes

90% of the advantages WM5 offers I can get with spb pocket plus anyway

I'll give it another go when/if dell offer an upgraded version of wm5 - but for now Im sticking to 2003se :)

I'm with you. I tried WM5 for 2 days and gave up.
Thought I was a little quick to pull the trigger and because of a botched software install I had to do a hard reset. I figured let me give WM5 one more go of it. This time, I tried it for a week.

It started off better, but I had to turn off things that I needed, such as battery meters in iLauncher. The battery was barely lasting me a full day and over the weekend (I put in the extra capacity one) it drained completely. I wasn't even using it and the battery was dead.

I gave up and I'm back to WM2003. :(

So many hve done like you. This release was obviously too earlier and the fixes are slow to come.

Hello all,
after I spent my $40 for the upgrade to WM5, I used it for a week before I returned to wm2003. My axim became an expensive paperweight. Hopefully Dell will eventually address all the issues with WM5. Untill then, I am staying with WM2003

The same story...I fought with WM5 for a week and gave it up. When I got back to 2003se, I got my fast PDA back, not this faulty, slow system like you get with WM5

Absolutely! With all I've read about WM5, I'm even more convinced that I made the right decision NOT to upgrade at this time. WM2003SE works just fine for me on my X50v.

In a way, however, I'm kind of sad WM5 doesn't work, because the list of things that were to be improved sounded GREAT. I hope they eventually get the bugs worked out.

Only thing keeping me in WM5 is Minimo...if it would run under WM2003SE I'd go back immedeately!

I gave WM 5.0 a pretty good chance letting it set on my X50v for about a week. In that time, I tried all the helpful suggestions of fellow Axim users to get the OS tuned and running at decent speeds. It's unfortunate that the only tweak that actually worked was the one that prevented AS from continually starting on the X50v. Unfortunately, this did not prevent the PDA from continually powering up every few min when it was docked. I also was never able to solve the high CPU usage and high battery drain issues.

Here's to hoping they can get things sorted out. WM 5.0 certainly looked promising when it worked properly as it seemed quite snappy. Overall, though, my X50v works a lot faster and more stable on WM 2003SE. It seems a bit more buggy now than before I did the upgrade so I hope WM 5.0 didn't leave some residual probs on my PDA. It might also be due to the fact that the rollback put me at A05, and I had A04 before I upgraded.

True to my word..WM5 marriage lasted less than a WEEK !

Guys this has to be the biggest pile I've ever stepped on!!

Downgraded today and SWEAR never to go back unless I hear only nice things abt the next (??) patch..from the Whiz's on this site..

Do X51v Users Have to Go Back?

Given the really bad experiences with upgrading to WM V5.0, what about those of us, especially us newbies, who bought an X51v which comes with V5.0? Can we expect to have the same problems?

Thanks.

I understand you guys' pain. However, I won't give WM 5 just yet without a fight... Also, dell has to release a update soon with people complaining all over the place.
