Problems upgrading X51 to ROM A5

Warning to those planning to upgrade X51 QVGA A05. After completing the installation I could not sync: "Synchronization cannot be completed successfuly. Reconnect your device and try again..." I tried to:

1. Reboot both X51 and PC
2. Reinstall ActiveSync 4.1

Neither worked. I then reloaded the previous A04 ROM image to try to get back to where I started. After reinstalling my backup (Sunnysoft 3.7). I still CANNOT sync, receive the message above.

Does Anyone have any idea how to overcome this problem?

Updating to ROM A04 was a negative experience as well. Running the restore from the system backup gave a message that the backup version was incompatible with the current software!

Hmm. I have no idea, as I do not own a X51. I upgraded my X50 with no problems.

My upgrade went smoothly. ActiveSync works for me :)

Are you using AS 4.1? What I also did was delete my old profile (PC AS go file>delete mobile device.) On your PPC go to AS, I think, go menu>options or connections) and delete all profiles.

Thats what I been doing.

Cannot reinstall A05 after install A04

Forgot to mention that attempting to reinstall over A04, after deleting A05, gives the error message:

"The system update file cannot be found. Reinstall the system update"

The installation quits after the error message.

You need to chose "Open this file from it's current location" on the readme page - I had to use IE to do it.

You're right. I am using Firefox and the only option was "Save to Desktop". I hate IE so I used browsed the folder for the setup file and it worked fine afterwards. Another minor annoyance was that I usually ActiveSync via bluetooth and charge my PDA in my bedroom but it wanted it to be charging during the upgrade. I doubt if that was really necessary. So I had to dug up my PC cable and my power supply :rolling:
