Is there a downloadable version of WM5 out there for X50v?
I couldn't find it, only versions that didn't work on my Axim.

Any help would be appreciated.

You have to purchase WM5 from Dell for $40, and it has a ton of bugs

I hope he's not looking for a wares version. As far as I know, you can only get it on a CD, legally that is.

The WM5 CD's for sale on eBay are so cheap you can use them for drink coasters or frizbies.

As I see it right now the WM5 update CD for x50 should be free. I think most people who updated to WM5 are rather "unhappy" - I rolled back just after a day - due to the ^%$#@&@&! BT manager.

Although I bought my x50 when Dell had a "free update" promotion I never got my CD as Dell USA will not ship it outside the US (I’m somewhere in Europe right now ) so I had to organize a copy on my own – it took ca. 6 hrs..

So my opinion is: spend that $40 on a dinner, beer, condoms or even dirt and you’ll still make a better deal than when buying that update.

I'm not promoting illegal stuff but many of Axim w/ WM5 users will agree that the release available now from Dell is merely a shareware or even a beta and actually we should be paid for beta-testing, waste of time and sometimes important data.

In the future though, I rom Update may fix some of the problems

    

My recommendation is not to update right now... Wait for an updated ROM.

Mark i fell you, i havnt rolled back yet. That update has to be comming anyday now. People have been expecting it since Thanksgivin. Its very rediculious at this point.

I bought it and just got a refund. It is buggy as all get out, and not worth the aggravation and things you have to cripple in order to just get it to work in what I consider a very crippled mode. Wait until they release a new version or post an update. If you order it they have a short return window, I was outside that but once I pointed out I'd made calls to TS and they indicated a patch would be out soon, but I should rollback to WM2003, that soon had not arrived and rolling back left me with a defective product - they refunded my money and let me keep the CD. Now I have a free WORTHLESS OS Upgrade.

 

I bought mine but never opened it. I'm waiting for the bugs to be worked out. I feel if you don't get it now, when they get the bugs out, it won't be for sale like the x5's 2003 upgrade.

Not worth it. Looks pretty and all, but cripples usability. There's no legal way to download, unless you want to download the *cough* torrent to "try it out"...

The fact that Dell still has not send out the upgrades might be an indication that it still does not work well yet.. I'll wait.
