DELL is no longer selling the WM 5.0 CD !!!!!

This was mentioned earlier in a post about "where to buy the WM 5.)" upgrade. But I don't think people may have noticed. If you go to the DELL site to order the CD, there is a link to buy the CD BUT then it comes up with:

We're sorry that we could not find anything that matched your search.

Are they really not selling it to people now?

thanks.... :)

The reality is that WM5 has brought more unhappiness than satisfaction, and it's a very good thing for Dell to stop the already big mountain of unhappy users they have with all this of WM5 upgrade and X51 users. As many others has said: "Let's be patient and wait until they release the ROM that will make all of us happy". Keep hope up!

Yeah, but lots of people like me are waiting until they release the upgrade to go out and buy the cd. And if they arent offering the cd anymore than ill probly never get it even if they do put out a x50 upgrade.

I bought my copy when it was still in pre-order and then chomped at the bit until it arrived. Once I found out my GPS software wasn't WM5 compatible, I hesitated to install the upgrade. Boy am I glad!

Bought a sealed copy on Ebay for about $11. Haven't tried installing it because of all the problems people on this site are reporting, but it appears to be a legitimate copy. You might check there, if you still want it. Personally, I'm seriously considering skipping the upgrade and maybe just upgrade my hardware and all when a stable system becomes available.

I would like to ask something that just came up to my mind: Does any body know if HP Ipaq users are also having a bad time with their WM5 equipments or upgrades?

Question WM 5.0 problems with other products.

I have heard of some complaints from iPaq users, but they seem to be more generic and along the lines of "speed" issues, verses things like "white screens, no power on, CF card disappears, huge battery drain.

It seems that phone users are having much better luck with WM 5.0. Which makes you wonder; was it designed for phones and modified for PDAs?

Well, with all the bugs that people are having, are you really surprised? I'm not. Don't worry. They'll release it again once they find fixes.

I do not have the upgrade CD, and need one,

But even Dell representatives do not know about it. It seems erased from their system.

My problem is I had one, but lost it, (with a lot of importat cds I had when I moved). So I need to purchase a new one, as I reverted to 2003. (wating for the updates).

Any suggestions?

You want a suggestion, stay with wm2003se. Unless you need a feature of wm5, there are a few more, then stay with 2003se. There are still many problems with speed, etc.
And if you really want a wm5 device that runs better, go for the x51v.
