New X51V; ActiveSync help!

So I gave my X50V to my girlfriend thinking that the problems with Activesync and WM5.0 would be reduced with a new X51V. Unfortunately no... I need help please!

I've searched the entire site on this, but I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Here's my problem: Activesync will connect, but will not sync. I get the green circle, circling and finally after a long while it gives me a cannot connet error. I can transfer files and it does recognize my axim, however.

I'm running an X51V with A06; Activesync 4.1; I have verified a network connection by both pinging it and verification that the connection exists through Windows; all firewalls are disabled and actually turned off; reinstalled activesync4.1; hard reset; and disabled error reporting; I've tried syncing with nothing checked (no calendars, notes, etc); I don't think I missed anything that I have read in troubleshooting guides and this site.

I struggled through the WM5 installation on my X50V and resorted back to WM2003SE due to frustration. Now that I have an X51V I'm stuck with WM5.0 and the continuing problems. I thought the problems with WM5.0 was exclusively for the X50V. I'm really hosed!

Can anyone think of anything that I'm missing? Are there any checks that I can pursue to identify the problem? Are there alternatives to sync data besides Activesync? Can the firewall internal to my router affect activesync? I'm really lost here! Please help!
