How Can I Retain My Old Device Name after Hard Reset?

In WM5, after a hard reset of the device, how can I get my old device name?

No matter how many times I rename my device, ActiveSync wants to create a new profile and name my device with some generic "WM_generic" type name. How can I get my old profile? It's still listed in ActiveSync.

Open activesync with the PPC not docked in the cradle. Go to File -> Delete Partnership and delete everyname found. Resync and it will keep the name selected.

OK, I think I got it.

1. I renamed my device ON the device to what it was named before.
2. In ActiveSync, I deleted all of my partnerships (including the name I want to use)
3. When deleting partnerships, I declined to delete my old "my documents" folder
4. I performed a sync. I had to tweak some settings, but ActiveSync used the name I had chosen for my device.

Hope this helps someone else.
