Send files through bluetooth in WM5!!

I'm sure someone else has already figured this out.But Previously I thought that(without the exception of using 3rd party apps) it was impossible to send a file in WM5 using bluetooth. Today I was fooling around with beaming some files from my wm5 X50mid. I found that the beam function in WM5 not only searches for IR devices, but Bluetooth devices also. All you have to do is click "beam file"(picture, contact, etc.) and you can send a file using bluetooth in WM5. It was a cool discovery for me because I have noticed the cripple bluetooth in WM5 compared with WM2003se; and this makes it a little better. Now I can easily send contacts to my V551 from my Axim!! :approve:

Question Sending Contacts via Bluetooth Crashes Mobile Phone

Hi Alphonso,

I hadn't figured it out - and it was an annoyance for me since moving up to WM5. The ability so send Contacts via Bluetooth to my Mobile Phone (a Sony Ericsson k600i) has been much missed since moving from Windows Mobile 2003SE.

Unfortunately, in my case, sending a Contact via BT manages to crash my 'phone!

The BT connection is made (the BT icons shows up on my phone), the contact starts to send... but then the Mobile Phone screen dims, and finally reboots.

Sending Contacts from a Bluetooth enabled PC to my 'phone works just fine though... so the problem appears to lie with the PDA.

If anyone else has found this, or a workaround, I'd be interested to hear it!

Hmm?? Weird?, I have switched back to WM2003SE since the initial post. I stayed with WM5 for about a month. I really like WM5 as far as the GUI is concerned; but when I switched back to WM2003SE I was so surprised at how much more stable everything was not to mention the superior Bluetooth stack. My advice: Go back to WM2003SE. SORRY.

How do you beam contacts to your V551? I have one and can't seem to get it figured out.

OK, I was able to send contacts, but I have to make the phone discoverable using "FIND ME" everytime. Do you have to do that or have you figured out how to make them always see each other?

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll be gone all day.

Yeah, you can use a bluetooth phone(V551) as a modem to connect your Axim to the Internet.

I have Comcast broadband and they don't have dial-up access, so I haven't been able to play with that.

Yes. it is possible but you will need a Bluetooth USB dongle if your PC doesn't have built in bluetooth. The Dongles are pretty cheap now; $10-$40. I use an Iogear bluetooth USB dongle for my PC.
