X50V Windows Mobile 5 upgrades / patches

I am new to the Axim / PPC / WM5 world !!

Once an X50V is upgraded to WM5, can the X51 patches from Dell be used - I was told an X50V is identical hardware to an X51V (except for extra 128 MB storage) ?

Also, I am looking at buying an X50V (from ebay) which comes with a WM5 upgrade disk. Once I have applied the upgrade and am now running WM5 on the X50V, how do I get further upgrades?

For example, I keep seeing reference to A00 A01 ... A06 ? If the WM5 upgrade is A00, how do I (eventually) upgrade to A06 - do I have to wait for Dell to send out another WM5 upgrade CD ?

Regards,

Roger

Welcome! No the upgrades for the x51 won't work on the x50. The loader checks to see what current software level is loaded and on what hardware. It won't work. Once they put out an upgrade for the x50 you will probably see it here first, lol but then you will go to the Dell website where you will be able to download it. It will have instructions included as to how to load it on your pda.

I was following here a couple of weeks ago, as I thought a WM5 fix for the X50 upgrade debacle was imminent. Now it does not look like Dell is coming through with an update.

Any news on this front?
