Can anyone explain to me GPS Settings

Can anyone explain to me the GPS settings.

In Mobile 5 the program screen says select the port that programs will use to obtain GPS data.

The hardware screen says to specify the hardware port to which your GPS device is connected.

I dont understand the differences and it seems to me they should be the same but it won't let you set the com port the same and says they can't be on the same com port.

I know my gps says it is using com port 1 buad rate of 19200 so I would think hardware is com1 but in my GPS enabled software it tells me to set the com port and I wouldn't know what it should be set to as, once again, the com port that it is communiacating with is com 1.

Could someone explain this to me or direct me to a paper that would explain it all.

Thanks,

Dan

The GPS application is a way of sharing one GPS between several applications. Hence the incoming port (the one the GPS really is connected to) and the outgoing port (the one apps will "see" the GPS on). If you are not using more than one GPS app at once, disable it by setting the the incoming to None. I tried it, but found gpsgate (from www.franson.com) to be more reliable.
