Question Is this a wifi bug with WM5?

Hi all. I have just had my X51V replaced by Dell as it had several issues after just 3 weeks from new. One of my issues was that when I activate WiFi, it is very hit and miss if it locks onto my access point every time. I normally have to keep enabling and disabling it until it kicks in. The replacement does exactly the same though. As an experiment, I tried re-enabling the broadcast of my SSID on my AP (I normally have this disabled). Ever since I enabled the SSID broadcast, it connects every time with no issues. My previous X30H did NOT have this issue. Can anybody else confirm this? I did try to log this via a support call to Dell. However, trying to get past the Service Tag screen for an Axim on Dell's web site is about as easy as eating soup with a fork so I gave up !!

Many thanks

Gary

I had my SSID broadcast set to off and was having connections problems. I just turned it on and it connects fine, every time, first time. Truly evil :-).

Mine works fine with the SSID not being broadcast. It may be if you have interfering signals in the area (other networks on the same channel, cordless phones, microwaves, etc.), the PPC may have trouble keeping the connection and having SSID off could exacerbate that.
