Backup & Sync doplicates PIM

Hi all,
Yesterday I backed up all of my data to my SD before doing a hard reset. I used "Data Backup" utility (Version 3.1) which comes with the Axim X51V WM5 from the factory.
Then, to recover the data, I restored my backup. l was happy to see all applications working!
BUT, , when I docked my Axim & let it sync, it duplicated ALL of my PIM!! (also on my PC)
2 qustions:
1) How can this be done without duplicating?
2) How do I remove all the duplicates?
thanks

You don't mention what software you use for backup, but with Sprite, you can specify the types of files that are backed-up. Since I sync both at home and work, I choose NOT to backup this information.

As you may have guessed, it happened to me!

If you sync with a desktop, chances are that the duplicates are now in both places, so what I did was to remove the device, backup without that info, hard reset, and then restore. I then turned to the PC, where I ran the freeware utility, Outlook Duplicates Remover, written by Fr. Simon Rundell By deleting the duplicates on the PC (since it is easier than using the Axim), my next sync was a clean install of this information.

If you don't sync, I know SKTools has a duplicate remover in their package.
