difference between home and programs

Other than the obvious visuals whats the difference between the two? Am having a hard time distiguishing what programs/apps are located where. I like the home setup better because it reminds me of a palm screen. is there any way to shrink the icons to fit more per screen/page?

Programs is a part of WM5, Home is a program added by Dell. I don't use Home, but I don't think it's editable, just add/remove program links.

:uglyhamme Your first problem is wanting your axim to look more like a palm. Just kidding of course. I dont think it is possible to change those icon sizes.

You can try third party programs like SPB Pocketplus or SHSH's iLauncher which adds icons to the today screen and you can adjust the sizes and have tabbed folders. It's pretty handy. Better than "Home"

I have pocketplus and its great. Alittle more expensive than ilauncher though.

:) Before buying this x51v a week ago I bought a palm t/x. Had it for 4 days and had it completely figured out and all the options explored in the first 2 days. After a week I still cant figure out how to use most of the stuff on the axim. Have installed 7 different 3rd party software progs to try to make it actually useable with only moderate success. Hard reset twice.

Actually, I have to agree. I have used palm devices for years and they seem to be easier to pick up and learn. I recently switched to the axim x51v and while I love the sheer trick factor of the technology. I have to admit it has been much less useful than my Tungsten C. The thing I miss the most is being able to organize my programs into actual categories that make sense to me. Although now that I have discovered this forum things are getting better. I have applied the exchange server schedule trick and it seems to have taken care of the mutiple daily soft resets. Seriously if anyone knows how to organize programs I would enjoy the answer please....

Much like on the Palm PDA (where many install a 3rd party launcher such as ZLauncher), the PPC PDA can be made much more intuitive in day-to-day usage by adding to it.

For a tabbed interface, you might look at PocketPlus or iLauncher. For the cascading start programs menus, WisBarAdvance2.

Also, there's a number of tutorials here on AximSite and many members have populated their View MyPDA with useful information. Mine has a link to my Palm to PPC migration and a link to organizing the Today Screen (among other links).

Welcome, ffbigrig.

I use ilauncher and it can organize your program much better. Have you tried it? Hope this helps.
