According to the Dell Owner's Manual, the Axim x51v is supposed to look in Word Mobile documents for search strings. There is even a box to check in the search applet if you want to look in only Word files.

I have over a hundred smaller documents with bits of information that need to be able to found via search. I cannot get the search feature to find the string. I tried several different strings and nothing seems to work. i even tried moving the files out of folders and into the root menu, but nothing works. I tried searching ALL DATA and just Word, still no result. It is able to find strings in other areas of the memory, just not in Word )I haven't tried Excel.

Is anyone else having this problem. Has anyone found a solution? I haven't even been able to find a third party program that corrects this, and I have seen at least one other post on this board where someone mentioned the problem.

This may be the answer to the question.

The search applet successfully finds strings that match titles of Word socuments. It may not actually be designed to search the contents of the files. Bummer.
