What is the bluetooth problem?

My x51v is due Monday so I'm priming for it. I keep reading that WM5, or at least WM5 on the x51v, has some major bluetooth problems. I'm hoping to use BT to link the Axim to my Cingular Motorola V551 phone, as well as link it to a PC. My only bluetooth experience on the PC is with a Dlink adapter which is a true pain.

Is there already a thread, tutorial, or sticky, that explains the problem and what works and doesn't? Or, can someone provide a basic summary of the issues? Thanks.

If you get the right BT receiver everything should work just fine for you. I have the x51v, RAZR V3, and this CompUSA BT receiver (Product#: 334223) and everything works wonderful. Of course I do use Resco Explorer to send file via BT from my Axim. Resco Explorer is a great piece of software and it was really the only way I could send files via BT. But it also has a registry editor, network neighborhood, and FTP built into it as well. Anywho...hope this helps.

Thanks, I had tried the search but I still don't know what the problem is except that WM5 is using the MS Bluetooth stack instead of another one, and Dell did a less than optimal job of implementing it. Perhaps the best idea is just to wait until it arrives on Monday and see what doesn't work.

This link looks very useful: http://axim.dpicts.com/.

Maybe I'll see if I can snag a Compusa one. I had some strange error message (trying to get my phone to talk the the PC) and went to the Dlink site for help. Naturally there was a known issue (with that model and that firmware version) and it involved installing all sorts of stuff and tweaks.

Hmm. There is a PC Fair tomorrow near me. This is a good excuse to go.

Yeah, the one I picked up at CompUSA was my third BT receiver. A guy on another post here suggested it. He also have a great Wiki page on how to get ActiveSync to work with BT. Basically, the key is to use the passkey "0000" when your Axim is creating a relationship with your BT reciever. And a buddy of mine has your exact phone and it works fine with his x51v. Also, like I said before...get Resco Explorer...you'll thank me.

Peace.

Ok, I'll give Resco a shot. I looked it up and it seems interesting.
