Is Windows Mobile 5 and WM2005 the same thing?

Yes they are the same. The proper name is Windows Mobile 5

Here's a link explaining what windows mobile is. Basically they're exactly the same thing, and there a some variations for the device you use like smartphone or pocket pc or pocket pc phone. This Q & A from MS answers all of that. Glad you asked, it gave me a chance to find out for myself!

Microsoft didnt want Windows Mobile 2005 to sound obsolete after 2005 and because they dont want to release a new version every year, WM 2006, etc they decided to just number them. This is actually a lot better this way. They've done this with the desktop Windows, though slightly different by using 'XP'.
