No Reminders after upgrading to WM5 on Dell Axim X50v?
I recently upgraded my Dell Axim X50v to Windows Mobile 5 using the CDs sent to me from Dell. Since then, I'm not getting any reminders when events occur.
I rely on these reminders to help keep my day on track. Can anyone advise?

If you are double check the settings to confirm you are synching up the calendar and tasks. If you are not connecting via active sync look at your firewall settings and network connections - Remember WM5 creates a 10 MB network connection Hope this gets you in the right direction

Thank you for the reply.
I am able to sync via ActiveSync (4.1.0) and my tasks, contacts, calendar, and everything else sync successfully. I can see the calendar items on my PDA's calendar and Today screen. If I edit a calendar event, I see that the reminder is set (15 minutes). I use SPB Softwarehouse's SPB Diary program on my Today screen and I see the little yellow reminder icon, too. Everything LOOKS like the reminder should happen; it just never does. When I purchased this PDA several months ago, it came with the previous version of the Windows mobile OS installed. Several weeks ago, I received the Windows Mobile 5 upgrade CDs from Dell, which I installed a few days ago. Prior to that upgrade, the reminders were working extremely reliably -- the alarms would trigger when they were supposed to. Since the upgrade, it has never worked. I've tried soft-resetting, hard-resetting and re-installing, and nothing seems to be working. I run SPB Pocket Plus, SPB Diary, and Agenda Fusion, all updated versions that work with WM5.

They didn't say. After I sent the message (my second post in this thread) to them, they replied within about 20 minutes that they are replacing it. I haven't investigated beyond that.

I am having the same problem with SPB Diary. The default reminder is in weeks, not minutes. If I go and manually change an item so that the reminder time shows (0) minutes I will get the reminder. However, I have found nothing in the manual or options to change the default setting. Did you ever get yours figured out?

I ended up rolling back to Windows Mobile 2003 and it's working fine. I had a conversation with a tech at Dell who told me that WM5 simply wasn't ready for prime time. Since the rollback, everything has been awesome again. At this point, the best solution seems to be NOT to use WM5, at least until a second release that (hopefully) fixes lots of these problems.

I've had problems like you describe, but am using Pocket Informant, not spb Diary. In my case, the reminder notification would turn on the backlight, but no alarm would sound. I used MemMaid to delete duplicate, unnamed and orphaned reminders. In fact, I deleted everything except system reminders, and the audible alarm notifications returned. MemMaid is available as a 14-day trial. Google for it.
I also downloaded Check_Notifications, which is freeware, and it may work, too. However, a review of MemMaids said they tried Check_Notifications and it didn't detect all the duplicates that MemMaid did. I'd try it first and if it doesn't solve the problem, try MemMaid. Cheers, Larry

I have the Calendar reminder setting set for 0 minutes in Pocket Outlook. The reminder in Diary and now PocketBreeze is defaulting to one week and one day on each. I spoke with SPB tech support and they said it couldn't be done in the current release. I have since dumped Diary and am looking at PocketBreeze, but if it has the same issue then I give up.

Am I right that you are talking about appointments created on your device? Did I understand you correctly that when your create new appointment by means of Spb Diary the reminder is set to one week? What happens if you create new appointment by means of standard Calendar application (Pocket Outlook)? Please check what reminder is set in its options: Start -> Calendar -> Tools -> Options -> Appointments. If you are talking about appointments that were syncronized with desktop, you have to check the settings of your desktop Outlook. Let me know if this helps!
