Installation Order of Apps w/ WM5
I ran into a strange little fluke with WM5 (or perhaps Activesync 4.1) today while trying to set up my new x51v at work today.
I was installing my short list of apps that I frequently use on or with my PPC over the weekend at home. First, I installed Activesync 4.1 (of course!), then SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Diary, then Commontime mNotes. Everything worked fine, but I couldn't check mNotes until I got to work today. When I synced with my work computer, it was completely flaking out. mNotes wouldn't finish configuring, Activesync would hang, all kinds of garbage. I reinstalled mNotes and got it to work- sort of. It would sync and display on the Today screen, but I couldn't open email messages. It would also lock up the system when I tried to open an appointment and I would have to soft reset. I tried a number of combinations to no avail so I started over from scratch. Here is what worked: 1. Uninstall everything from the PC - Activesync, mNotes, everything. 2. Hard reset the x51v (arrrrg!) 3. Install Activesync 4.1 4. Install Commontime mNotes 5. Install SPB Pocket Plus 6. Install SPB Diary Everything worked perfectly right from the start, although Diary really seemed to slow down the system quite a bit so I uninstalled it. Luckily, it was a trial version. I replaced it with the very versatile, and free, Calendar+ and all is well. Has anyone else faced this kind of quirk with WM5/Activesync 4.1 where installation order can screw everything up? Maybe it was mNotes. I'm not sure, but I'm glad it worked because I was minutes away from returning the x51v and looking for another x30h!!!

I wouldn't assume it was the order of install. It might just be that you removed everything and started over.
Of course, it takes time and patience (which I normally don't have)....but start again and install in the original order. If you again have issues, then you're on to something. If it still works, it was probably just reinstalling that "fixed" it. ![]()

If I had to venture a guess, it was more of an issue with mNotes than anything else. Their installer is somewhat flaky and has been for a few versions. It works fine, but I've seen it freak out like this before, and once it's freaked there's not a lot you can do.
I found mNotes rock solid once you get it installed, but until you got it completely configured it was a sit back and pray kind of thing ... ok that and I don't trust Lotus Notes. ![]()

Hi,
I got nearly the same problem. Sync was fine mNotes and all, but when i tapped on a mail to open it, it shows the animation but nothing else happens. After I hard resetted my device (x50v with WM5) and installed everything new, all was well. Though I installed SPB Pocket Plus before mNotes and didn't reinstall ActiveSync at all. I think it's an mNotes error and has nothing to do with ActiveSync.
