Several users who have upgraded to a Windows Mobile 5.0 device have complained that they missed the New Menu which is missing in the new OS. Fortunately, someone has written a simple freeware to replace any of the soft key menu with a New Menu. With this New Menu, you can create new documents, contacts, tasks, etc, conveniently from the today screen. If you like to bring such functionality to your Pocket PC which is running Windows Mobile 5.0, do check out this page for more information and the download link

Well I have really missed the New Menu and was very excited by this bit of news.
Unfortunately when I tried to install the cab file on my x50v it does not install properly - error message saying "Installation of WM5NewMenu.CAB was unsuccessful".
I guess it only works on XDAs and the various derivitives.
Bummer...

Just in case, did you disable the MS security checking (you can check the thread "WM5 is here to stay.." link below and perhaps you know how to install the cab file right?

Yep - I have Tweaks2k2Net installed which disables that automatically.
Still no joy. I am thinking it might be a corruped cab file so I will try to download it again later.

This was justed added to the most recent release of iLauncher which was released after the release of this new menu program so at the time it wasn't an option. And of course if you are not running iLauncher it is still your only choice.
