How does the Bluetooth Manager work in 2005?

Hi all,

I have an X50v with 2003SE. It works fine - I am connecting it to a Bluetooth GPS and all I do is go into the Bluetooth Manager, see the icon, click Connect.

Job done.

Also have an X51 with 2005. This does not work fine - the Bluetooth manager appears totally different and I can find no such Connect option.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I needed an update for the application software from Navteq once I upgraded to 2005. The new app software doesn't appear to use the Bluetooth Manager at all. If your's is made by Navteq go to http://www.navteq.com/updates/updates_handheld.html and check for an update.

It's a Holux GPSlim - but not sure how relevant that is.

Basically I cannot appear to manually connect to any paired Bluetooth devices like I can with 2003.

With 2003, you click and hold on the device in the Bluetooth Manager, and one of the options on the subsequent pop-up menu is Connect. Job done.

With 2005, this option isn't here - you can 'Edit' or 'Delete' but there is no Connect option, it's not even greyed out.

On the screen your refering to I think it should be showing you the profiles that the device you are trying to pair with is offering. If the window is empty then it doesn't see one it can use. They reduced the number of supported bluetooth services in 2005from what was in 2003. There are also compatibility problems with some of the supported profiles. My Mot V710 cell used to work fine for Dial Up Networking but stopped when I installed the update. However my Zoom Modem workes fine with both.
