How do I get the new OS?

Dell Axim X50v, Just got nailed by the battery going too low and losing a year's worth of information and I am quite steamed.

How does one get the new OS, or is there an updated 2003 version that fixes this issue?

You will need w,2005 to get the feature so you dont lose data when the battery dies. I would suggest backing up to a card routinely using the built in data backup program, Then you can resotr the backup when you lose all your juice.

You can order an upgrade CD from Dell, though you could probably get one cheaper around here. Check the Classifieds forum.

Before you go trusting the bulit in backup on your Axim you might want to read the review by Menneisyys. He writes for Pocket PC Magazine and has done a great job reviewing backup solutions.

You may want to read about all the problems people are having with WM5 and rolling back to 2003se before you make the upgrade move.

Backup everyday to your pc and to a flash card and you'll never have that problem again. Hold off on the new os until it works properly.

I'd stick, with 2003 but invest in a copy of Sprite backup or spb Backup. wm5 will give your more problems than it will fix right now.
