Internet With WM5

What is a good enhancement program (or different web browser all together) for internet on WM 5?

I tried Opera but its extremely slow, netfront didnt work, PIEPlus didnt work... The only thing I got to work was SPB Pocket Plus's IE plugin, but the New Window freezes pocket IE occasionally and it gets frusterating.

What do y'all use?

The new version of Minimo is pretty slick. I think the latest is 0.13. Do a search here on Aximsite for the download link.

I also tried Minimo but it seems to run very slow... and the menu bars are virtually unreadable theyre so small.

I'm not sure the smallness issues are because of the x51v's VGA?

The small text isnt really an issue and I would LOVE this browser if it wasnt for the speed of it. Hopefully the next update will fix this.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, the menubar thing is cause of VGA. I honestly kind of like it though, cause it makes that much more of the webpage viewable. The small text in the address bar was occasionally a problem, but not too bad since typing web address is usually pretty easy and you can use bookmarks and such.

At any rate, thought it was worth a shot... I think that's gonna be a dang fine browser when they get to a release version. FireFox certainly rocks.

You should be able to adjust some of the sizing options in Minimo to makes things more legible.
The invention of the flamethrower suggests that someone thought, "you know, I'd really like to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just too lazy to walk."

You can adjust the size of the webpage text, but you can't adjust the size of the menubars and menus or address bar, which I believe is the issue under consideration.

You used to be able to adjust the address bar size in .11, but now that I've installed .13, it crashes every time I try to open the app, so I have no clue what it can and can't do .

I just installed the Opera beta for WM5 devices today. It seems about the same speed as PIE to me in loading sites (so far). Maybe there is another issue that is your device problem. I also found Minimo VERY slow, so I took it off my x51v.

Did you delete the Mozilla folder in the Windows directory first? If not, try that.

Menus are bigger in the new version (although buttons are not).

Just as slow as always, though...

It's still great for doing desktop-like browsing, though, due to its small rendering of everything - stuff fits great on the screen!

That did work actually, but now that I have it working I think I'll put the older version back on there. I don't like the side bar and I would like the option of scaling the visual elements, even if it loses my settings on program exit.

Well, whatever I use as a browser, I let Google's Mobilizer do all the heavy lifting for me, so speed is really no different between any of them that I can tell.

Yeah, I'm not sure why zooming visual elements was taken out. I kinda miss the Back button being in the toolbar, too...

If you didn't have another reason besides the sidebar, though, that issue can be easily fixed - right-clicking the sidebar (or the line on the left side of the screen when the sidebar is not visible) toggles visibility.

So far minimo .13 is the only one that can fully render yahoo mail correctly. This even includes the delete, compose and sub menu buttons. Most sites for me load relatively quick. MiniMe might take awhile in loading up from the start, but after that it works pretty darn good. (only real complaint is the soft keyboard....yes I can turn it off...but in landscape, every time I want to bring up the url list the keyboard gets in the way )

Somewhere around here is a link to the person who reviews just about every single web browser for ppc in exhistance and puts it on some blog. ALOT OF HELP I AM

His blogs are very informative and are very accurate. (i tried a early version of minimo and HATED it..but his reviews made me try out .13 and I have been very happy since). I am also running spb +, and the pie tweaks still are not enough for me to use pie.

Someone post the link since I didn't see it skimming this thread and I can't remember where I found it
