Internet on the go
I have my x51v setup for my home network, but I need some help/advice on internet on the go. I have read about sniffers and what people mistakenly call sniffers which are only AP finders but I need some guidance.
I was hoping to find an app that would allow me to access the internet at any AP available with a single click. I don't want to have to change any setting and and deal with any mess, just start up the app, choose an AP and go to IE and surf. Oh yeah and not mess up my home network settings which is secured as best I know and can. If at all possible I would also like something (like a packet sniffer) that can get me on secured networks. I am not looking to invade anyones privacy only to access the internet for email or a quick question I need answered or driving directions, normal stuff and fairly quick stuff. Again without all the key/code/security input garbage. Please point me in the right direction, to a specific software or where I can learn more so that I can find the software myself. PM if you don't want to post it. I just want easy to access internet on the go. Or if I am just retarded and already have that then please explain it to me, because I have already read for hours on this and still don't get it, because it always has me mess with my existing home settings which I then have to redo later. Thanks Jerry

I don't know where you read you have to change the settings for your home network because that's not true (unless you are using a static IP, in which case the only solution besides changing them every time is to change to a dynamic IP at home).
The only thing you need to do at an open network it turn on the wireless and tel it to connect when the popup message appears. I generally recommend using "Work" (as the choice between "The Internet" and "Work") but this is less critical at a hotspot than on your home network. If the hotspot requires payment, you typically need to log in through the browser at this point. There are other add on utilities that some people have found helpful for connecting at hotspots. I think the most commonly used of these are WiFiFoFum (freeware), the Odyssey Client (included on the X51), and Wi-Fi® Companion.
