Inbox corrupt - registry question

Team,

I have an Axim X51v with A06. My inbox has become corrupt. I have duplicate entries (2 x drafts etc.) and the Inbox has assumed the name of another folder. There are a few other anomalies but you probably get my drift. I have searched the registry for a clue as to where these folders are, in the simplistic hope that I could delete and re-name but to no avail. I know little of registries but I am thinking that If I could delete the whole inbox and re-boot, the inbox would reload from ROM. Is this a sound philosophy? If so, what do I delete and from where? For the record, the corruption is in my back-up file! I want to avoid a rebuild at all costs as it has taken me three months to get the Axim in a reasonable state. Loads of VBs (virtual beers!) to anyone who can help.

Thanks,

David

My inbox was corrupted before, but in a different way. The today screen would show unread messages but no messages in the inbox when I opened messenger. The solution was to wipe out everything and resync. Painful and dangerous, but works. 1)do a full backup, 2)hard reset to wipe everything, 3)do a PIM backup on the empty database, 4)do a full restore, 5)do a PIM restore of the empty database, 6)sync data from PC. I keep the empty PIM backup file on my CF card now so the next time it happens I can start from step 5. Good luck.

Cheers Fry,

I thought long and hard last night (you know how these things consume you!) and solved the problem in a similar way. I got a copy of Sprite, made a full backup, did a hard reset and restored without the Inbox checked. Synced this morning and all seems ok. Another lesson to learn - load Sprite on a card otherwise you cannot restore after the hard reset without re-installing Sprite!

Thanks again

David

For the next time you could try CleanMail a free utility from Sprite that will clear the PPC mail data base. After clearing the database you can then synch with your PC to restore it.
