Outlook Web Access

Hello:

I am a new Axim X51v user, new pda user for that matter, and I have a question. I am trying to access our companies outlook web access application. I can connect to the site and login, IE will show the screen with all associated frames and I can put check marks in E-mail boxes and delete them but it seems, anything that requires a new window to open such as reading E-mail or composing a new one will not work.

Is this something on my pda I need to configure or is the problem at the OWA end.

Thanks for your help, this has been a very helpful site.

You need to login to OWA using the basic settings (Radio Button at the bottom of the page) in order for it to work. The problem is with the OWA using scripting under the advanced view which the Axim can't handle.

Hope this helps

Radio button

Thanks HOSPS!

I am at work now so won't have the chance to try until I get home. (No wireless here). I did log into OWA through my PC but didn't see a radio button on the bottom or anywhere to switch to basic settings. I will call the tech office that manages that server and ask them about it.

Thanks again for your help.

My school's Exchange server automatically reverts to Basic whenever I'm not using IE5/6/7. Since PIE is not any of those, Exchange uses Basic mode.

However, that means if you hacked your registry to make PIE lie and say it is IE6, the Exchange server will use Advanced mode, which will not work.

Thanks for the help Video Toaster:

I checked with are main office and was told we are using Exchange server 2000, but are in the process of upgrading to 2003. So when the upgrade is complete that should solve the problem.

Yes; OWA / Exchange 2003 does work with the Axim/WM2005

Hmm... I actually used OWA on Exchange 2000 for quite a long time on my Axim (until the server got upgraded to 2003 about two months ago). In fact, I liked 2000 better on my PDA because the frames didn't take up as much space. (2003 is many times better on the desktop using IE, though... very similar to Outlook 2003.)

If at all possible you should see if they will allow you to utilize OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) instead of OWA.

OMA is really easy to configure, and honestly is a heck of a lot easier to use than OWA, since you get to use all the built in functionality of your PPC and then sync it just like you would to a desktop.

Unless OMA is another web interface, I doubt my school would allow that. Heck, they don't even let you use Outlook outside of school (firewall blocks it). :D

(actually, they don't even let the teachers use Outlook INSIDE school... only administrators, with a few exceptions, get to use Outlook... blocked from starting for everyone else)
