Startup Programs and Services ???

Is there a list somewhere of the programs and services that are started at boot time under WM5? I have MemMaid and I can see them but I do not know what they do. I would like to be able to shut down unnecessary ones.

thanks.

Paul

Great question Paul Saul. Sorry I don't know; however, I am just as anxious to find out as you.

Using File Explorer (or whatever), go to My Device > Windows > StartUp. In this folder you will find the apps that start up on reboot. You can remove (or introduce) any items you please.

Well, I am familiar with the startup folder from windows XP and the like. My startup folder is empty. What I am talking about is all the programs AND services that run at startup (that are NOT listed in the startup folder). There are like 6 programs and 15 services that start on my WM5 device. So again, I am left with the question does anyone know if there is a list somewhere that would tell me what they all do?

p.s. If you want to see all the programs and services running on your XP machine go to start > run > and type MSCONFIG and you will see a list.

I don't have my Axim yet, should arrive tomorrow, so speaking without true knowledge but -
In Windows XP there are lots of things that do not show up in the STARTUP folder and are being run from within the Registry, under HKEY_Local_Machine, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Run hive. I highly suspect the same would be true in Windows Mobile 5. If you have a regedit type program on the PDA you can check to see if this hive exist and what might be in the RUN hive. From there you might be able to determine where the program is being run from and what the programs are.
