Today screen-Time

When you click Start/Settings/Today/Items - at the bottom there is an option called "Today timeout", which allows you to select it and from the drop down menu select the number of hours.

What is the purpose of that hour timeout selection. I don't see it mentioned in Help.

The Today screen is the first screen that comes up normally. If you deselect this option, it doesn't seem to make a difference nor clicking on a number of hours.
Can someone explain what it's for?

Thanks,

Roger

When you turn off your Axim in the middle of something and then turn it on again after a little while, you will see the screen just like you left it.
EXCEPT when the Today-Screen-timeout has elapsed - thereafter you will see the Today screen.

OK?

No need to start two new threads on the same topic; same text, different titles, three minutes apart.

Hi Guys,

I'm sorry - I had compsed the first message and by accident click a button on the keyboard and it took me to another screen. I thought I could click back and then a blank reply screen came up, so I thought I had lost everything and started over again. Maybe I should have checked first to see what had happened.

I appologize!

Ok, thanks for the explanation. I thought it would be refreshing the appointments - for example an appointment that has elapsed (selecting 1 hour timeout) then it would disappear from the Today screen after 1 hour. I tried all sort of different times - boy was I off track!

So the way it works if I understand you correctly is that if you select 1 hour timeout:

1) If not powered-off, the screen you are on will stay on top for as long as the Axim is on regardless of the time-out setting.
2) If powered-off, the clock begins to tick from that moment and after 1 hour, if still off, when you turn the Axim back on, it will revert/refresh to the Today Screen.
3) If powered-off for 30 minutes and then back on, the last screen you were on will appear and the timeout resets back to 1 hour again waiting for the next time you turn if off.

Am I correct?

Also is there any additional documentation online/book that covers details as such. The Help in the Axim X51v discusses the Today screen, but it doesn't explain what that option does or is for. I also looked on the MS site and although they do cover many topics, some of which are a repeat of what's in Help, I didn't see anything there. The Dell instruction book didn't cover that either. I usually try to find answers.

No problem Skier7667. I've merged your two threads.

BTW, welcome to Aximsite!

"Am I correct?"

Yes, think you got it :-)

To be honest I had to forward the same question some times ago ...

That's what I admire so much about the AximSite ... people are SO helpful even if the question has been answered a lot of times.
By now I've learned to use the 'Search' facility a little more in order not to blame myself too much :-)
