Another possibility, then, is to see if there is an upgrade for your router firmware. As an extension to this, at least one user recently discovered that he had a very slow connection until he reset the router after a firmware upgrade.

Also, make sure you've disabled any 'enhanced' (108MHz) features on your router.

If there are other wireless networks in the area, make sure you are using a channel that is distinct from the closest. It may be worth trying a different channel from the current, anyway. There could be other interferences that you would see on a network list. Generally, you want to keep it on 1, 6 or 11 since all other channels overlap these three to some extent.

I will say this regarding WM5. While the wireless signal seems much weaker on my X51v than I was seeing with various CF cards (Symbol, SMC and Ambicom) on older devices, the connection seems faster than WM03 devices (3 to 5 seconds to load pages like the main page or a list of new posts here at Aximsite). One interesting aside, I tried Opera for mobile and found it much slower than PIE.

the problem sounds like a DNS Server issue, as you are having problems resolving websites, have you tried a different dns apart from your isp's dns?

ikehiker: My Wireless router is a Qwest Wireless DSL Modem. Sadly there hasnt been a new firmware upgrade in ages it seems. Dosent have any advanced features. Its pretty idiot proof in that area. Which for advanced users is a set back.

At this point though it seems like a software issue. There are other people from different forums posting about the same thing. The 30 second delay I mean.

REM2000: Would a DNS issue describe the behavior I talked about? Like the google example?

A DNS lookup is exactly what PIE is doing when it says "Locating..." I'd say that most likely is the issue.

Ok. So would I change my connection settings and specify DNS instead of using the default settings? I'm lost in this area.

Edit: The problem was DNS. I manually entered my DNS and the problem has been fixed. No more delay.
