I recently purchased a dell axim x51v and I love it, I have a few questions about WM5 however. First, i have noticed that it is possible to display a battery meter, memory usage, and brightness on the today screen. How would i go about doing that? Second, can anyone please give me some recommendations for wifi scanners? I have been told that there are network scanners (once connected to the network) which will allow you to view winodws shares. I have already installed WiFiFoFum and it is a great piece of software. I tried retinawifi scanner but it refuses to work on windows mobile 5. Any suggestions?
You should have received a CD rom with youe Axim that contains a few downloadable programs... one of them displays the battery life on your today screen, but I no longer have it loaded to my X51v, so I can't remember which one it was... There are MANY software programs that have this feature... Use the search bar near the top right hand corner of Aximsite's frontpage and insert key words like battery display and read the links... you'll find people's opinions of various programs that include those features...
...and welcome to Aximsite!

VBAR and Magic button are both free. Ilauncher and pocket + are comercial but very good.
and there are loads of others as well
to aximsite by the way

Switcher Bar does that! It displays battery meter, memory usage and brightness all on the Today screen, so isn't that a fair answer to your question?
no switched bar lets you GO there but you have to click on text to go there, i mean like a large picture of a batter, folder, memory chip thing, with numbers beneath telling me how much of which i have left to put it bluntly. sort of like battery pack ite.
Ilya, if you would like a nice file explorer, Resco sells one that has a nice registry editor and ftp client. It's also, IMO, a better file explorer than the one that comes with the OS. It also allows for some Today screen info regarding battery and memory use.
Even if Switcherbar does, it does everything so poorly why would you want to use it at all? I would caution you that if you decide to monitor your battery be prepared to have problems. Some have done it successfully but others (me) have had problems with displaying the battery. it causes slowdowns, battery drains, etc. Just be aware of it and remember to disabe it first if you see problems.
