Garbage in Documents and Settings folder

Yes I mean exactly that ... Garbage!

My suspicion is that it showed up when I did unattended automated backups of my x50v and said that the device could do a reset when it finish. Of course I was downloading my bank information automatically at roughly the same time.
So I messed up my checkbook, etc. and my PDA at the same time - how's that for efficiency!?

Anyway, I would like to get it all cleaned up if possible, without having to do a hard-reset and complete reinstall of everything.

I have tried just deleting the 'files' and 'folders', but since they have garbage names with invalid characters, they can't be deleted.
My backups are no good either.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Karen

before you do ANYTHING else... I'd make sure you have a backup of your data files...

Copy them to your pc if you have to

Try deleting them through activesync while exploring the device?

I still get the message about being unable to delete them because of the invalid characters in the filename.

Can you rename them first, then delete?
