I just purchased my first gps, a garmin que 1620 that should get here in a couple of days and before I upgrade I want to be sure that it will work with my x50v with wm5. Their site doesn't mention anything about it so I am hesitant to upgrade. If I do upgrade and it doesn't work is it possible to go back to wm2003?

yes you can go back... but there really is no hurry to upgrade. I'd use the garmin for a while first.

I just found a thread on here with a link to the rom image to go back to 2003 so now I at least feel a little safer. I guess I'm always in too much of a hurry to upgrade everything.

Why not try the upgrade, if you already have it? Give it a few weeks, make sure your programs are up to date. If you do not like it, then just go back to 2003.

A guy here at work upgraded his today. He noticed a significant decrease in over all speed and went right back to 2003. I think I'll stick with 2003 until there comes a time when I have a need for wm5.
