The user guide for the X51V shows a chart of "Status Icons". ie. New instant message, new email etc.

It also shows numerous battery icons, "Battery Level", "Low Battery", "Battery Charging" etc.

I have never seen these battery icons on my toolbar and cannot figure out how to enable them.

I don't feel I should have to install a bloated today plugin just to see the status of my battery. And going into the battery status by pressing Start, settings, system, power, is incredibly cumbersome.

Am I missing a check-box somewhere? This is a trivial task on every other version of windows, like on a laptop where you can choose to view the battery status in the taskbar.

Just tap on your clock on the task bar and you'll see a small little battery bar on the left bottom of the dialog box. It's not very good but it roughly shows you low battery, high battery or charging. It also shows you upcoming appointments, the clock and the date. As for new instant message or new email, there will be a email icon on the taskbar when you have a next email/instant message.
