Question Can't delete temp internet files. Help!

I can't figure this out

I've cleared the cache using IE, but in the directory \Windows\Profiles\guest\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 I have several folders with seemingly random names, which contain tons of other folders (see attached: screen005). On top of that, there are tons of images from web pages that I've browsed- avatars, logos, buttons, etc.. as well as many other file types.

When I checked the properties of the Content.IE5 folder with Resco explorer, the number of files and folders (and size) kept going up and up.. (see attached: screen006)

Of course, I'd like to delete all of this junk.

I've tried to delete the sub folders in the Content.IE5 folder with Resco explorer, and the default file explorer. I've tried to shred the files with the very cool FileShredPPC 2.3 and it crashes or doesn't display the folders. I've tried using MemMaid 1.6, and it hangs when scanning the temp Internet folder- I assume because it's infinitely large.

Any ideas?

BTW, I'm using an x51v

I'm quite confident that you have got an (bit) error in the File Allocation Table (FAT).
This happens when the final pointervalue deviates from 'End of Table' (null) usually by a single bit.
I've seen this error symptom previously on PC systems where I had access to adequate tools (Norton) to perform the recovery.

An similar error was reported earlier this week by Jungan and akheron:

Unfortunately no fix on the Ax is known - to me, that is .... Sorry !

Thanks for your reply Zaniax. The problem took care of itself- when my ax suddenly hard reset itself! I erased all the image and text files which were obviously only temp internet files by sorting them by file type. After I did that- bam. Hard reset.

Luckily I had a pretty recent back up to restore to. I checked the directory after the restore and all that junk is gone!

Sorry, I should have warned you NOT to erase any files before you had moved important files to your sd-card.
Fortunately you had a backup.
I submitted the warning in the other thread that I referred to.
The reason for the warning is that, due to the FAT info error, some of the files may overlap important memory areas.
These areas may contain vital (system) info and they are affected by your file activities.

BTW: your pictures in #1 post were a great help for my diagnosis.
Wish that everyone asking for support would be that specific

OT:
You're living in a magnificent city. Only been there twice - I like it very much
Take care ....
