Activesync stalling on "retrieving settings"

Recently did a hard reset to try to get a symbol wifi card to work with other drivers (didn't work, emailed them and they're not going to bother releasing wm5 drivers in the near future for anyone that's wanting to know).

anyway, activesync no longer wants to work.

i'd deleted all the profiles in activesync before trying to start a new connection. didn't bother backing up / restoring as there wasn't anything really important on the pda.

i closed down kaspersky and sygate before trying to sync with no effect.

still just sits there saying "retrieving settings", untill i do the end now windows option. i'm able to browse and install stuff on the device, just not sync it.

i'm starting to lose any shred of patience i've had with this heap of shite. anyone know if dell refunds these units? surely there's been enough people complaining for them to realise they're faulty. any help would be appreciated - whether it's about returning the axim or getting activesync to work.

If you purchased a warranty they will upgrade you as possible (I was upgraded from an x50v to an x51v, that made me pretty happy).

Have you tried uninstalling ActiveSync and reinstalling it? Which version of ActiveSync are you using?
