You should be able to do it with BT assuming your mobile phone is also BT compatible. From your contact list you could tap and dial out through your phone and your phone dials out with the BT headset firmly over your ear - you are ready to talk!

I was interested in such possibility to use pda as phone. But I wanted to use pda as a normal BT headset (to have possibility to talk via axim's mic). Is that possible?

x51v -> BT Cell Phone -> BT headset
Right. You can use x51v to control your BT cell phone to dial. However, my question is if I have a bluetooth headset and want the BT cellphone, after received the instruction from x51v to dail, cud also connected to the BT headset. The answer is no. Bcoz at this moment BT is only support single channel communication. You canot asked the BT cell phone to communicate to 2 BT devices at the same time.

The problem you will run into is that, given that the Axim can provide the correct BT profile (headset or something like that) most phones are only able to handle ONE BT connection at a time. So if you connect to it to dail from your pda the phone will drop your Axim as a headset. So your stuck with choosing between dailing from you axim and talking into your "normal" headset, or even you phone. Or dail on your phone and speak into your Axim, wich kind of ruins the whole idea ;)
The last thing, and that's what I'm looking into, is to get a phone that can handle several BT connection at once and thus supports BT 2.0. The ONLY one I have found is Sony Ericsson k6xx something. But still it seems to have major issues when handeling two BT connections at once.
The safest bet is to buy a "smartphone" built on WM5, but since you already have your Axim that two kind of ruins it ;)
If you find a sollution, don't forget to share it here.

No, you would not be able to use the PDA mic with the phone elsewhere (in your pocket/desk)

Regarding the BT connections, yes, you need a phone that is capable of talking in 2 channels at a time.
Another option is to use the CF/SD card that takes the SIM card within it to convert your PDA to a PDA-Phone. Now you can use the BT headset directly with your PDA since the GSM phone is a part of your PDA.
The only bad thing about it is that it drains your battery big time!
So if you don't mind charging your PDA every8hrs-12hrs, go ahead do it.
Again, not many are using this combination at this point of time. So do you want to try it?? (I believe these CF/SD cards are available at 100US$ or something; it might be worth experimenting if the costs go lower! whatsay?)

I have an X51v and a friend of mine has a Mio A201. The A201 can be used as carkit. It can dail and you can talk through your PDA.

I've never seen one of these that allows the use of a bt headset normally they route the audio via the CF card and not via the pda sound system...
Do any of them exist for sd cards?
and finally
Battery drain is not the only bad thing about them.. great for data, horribly flawed when it comes to voice calling
